Can meditation help my anxiety

I suffer from anxiety which affects my relationship and friendship in multiple ways.. I hate it and i feel like I cannot control it, but when I listen to meditational music, I fall asleep easier and feel better by zoning out. Is it proven to help anxiety at all?
