How do you lose hip and thigh fat

How does a person lose thigh/hip fat? I m pear-shaped and whilst my waist is about 27.5 - 28 inches, my hips are almost 40 inches (39.5 inches) and I m gaining a lot of weight in the thigh area. I ve noticed that I put on weight in the thigh/hip area.

Trying bike riding. Slimmed my hips right down.

"Spot reduction" does not work, at least not long term spot reduction. You cannot reduce fat in one part of the body. Just exercise, stay fit, check your waist line, and enjoy.
